NSB Christmas Parade Brings in the Season
Toyland Christmas Comes to NSB
New Smyrna Beach offers a ton of great, family-friendly Christmas events, that cater to the local community. Everything kicks off with Spark the Spirit, a late November Canal Street event, and festivities typically end with the boat parade (Dec 15th). In between, are a bunch of cool standalone events like this weekend’s unique Hot Air Balloon Snow & Glow. NSB also features a holiday tour of homes, shopping events, and much more, but our favorite small-town tradition is the Christmas Parade.
The event starts beachside at Flagler Avenue, crosses the North Causeway and heads for Canal Street. It is a great route that provides easy viewing opportunities. We camped out near the Riverview Hotel where the crowd was 2 or 3 deep. The parade lasted for over an hour and was a great mix of floats, bands, vintage vehicles, and dogs – lots of dogs. Oh, and there was a little bit of candy, as well. 🙂
Simply put: it was a fun time. And, we are already looking forward to the next event, where we just might be watching from inside the lines…
