NSB Sea Shack

We have been driving by this 3rd Avenue mainstay for years but just recently made our first trip there, and we were glad we did.  The restaurant, formerly known as PJs Sea Shack, is a casual joint with plenty of fresh seafood options.

Four of us stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night after the evening rush.  NSB Seashack is a comfortable, nautically themed place tucked into the mangroves of Callalisa Creek.

We started with the Mozzerella Meltdown.  Four hearty slabs of cheese, breaded and fried and served with Marinara ($8).  One of the better fried cheese options we have sampled lately…

For the entrees, I grabbed the Mile High Fist Sandwich with chips ($14), which was almost too tall to fit in my big mouth.  The fish was sweet and flaky in the appropriately named handheld.  One of our group settled on the Stinging Shrimp Pasta ($19) – a plate full of pasta loaded with broccoli and bite-sized shrimp, drenched in a tasty sauce with a nice balance of sweet and spicy.

The last two of our crew both order the Lobster & Shrimp Mac-n-Cheese($25). The elbow mac was smothered in an amazing creamy, marscapone-asiago cheese sauce, and there was plenty of lobster and shrimp.  We had heard rumors that it was pretty damn good, and we were not disappointed.  Grab yourself one on your next visit – it’s worth the healthy price tag.

The service was just mediocre, which seems to be the trend more often than not during our outings on Beachside.

NSB Insider Tip:

They currently have Customer Appreciation Nights on Sundays and Wednesdays, which features selected items at 50% off.  Take my word for it, there’s a huge selection included and definitely something for everyone.  One of the best bargains on Beachside, but we’ve heard a rumor that this will go back to one night per week, so check the restaurant to confirm.

Bottom Line:

We’ll be back to NSB Seashack.  We enjoyed the food, and wouldn’t mind sampling a few additional items on the diverse menu.
