Riverpark Terrace Impresses

Riverpark Terrace is one of NSB’s newest eateries, and has developed quite a buzz during its brief existence. We visited for our anniversary, and quickly found out why it has quickly become one of New Smyrna Beach’s best restaurants.

A good dining experience starts with ambiance and service, and our friends at Riverpark Terrace have those aspects nailed.  We loved the comfortable setting. The main seating area feels like a cozy home converted into a relaxing restaurant. And, the entire building is surrounded by a spacious garden – peppered with copious tables and chairs, nestled under trees.  We chose the indoor setting, because we have seen (and experienced) enough mosquitoes this summer to last forever.

We have noted before that it is tough to find good service in NSB, but not here, where we loved the attention and treatment from Dan and the rest of the wait staff.  They were all attentive to our needs and Dan was friendly and welcoming.

The menu featured a diverse assortment of foods with plenty of locally sourced ingredients.  We started out with a serving of their most popular appetizer, Fried Green Tomatoes, which were tasty and distinctive, and covered in an excellent corn salsa.  We also enjoyed the fresh bread and the dipping sauce which uniquely included local honey.

Our entrees were the shrimp pasta and the chicken breast special, featuring free range chicken from Osteen, smothered in mushrooms and served  over delicious garlic mashed potatoes.  The shrimp pasta featured cheesy shells that were so tasty, the kid at the table next to us ordered them as a standalone entree.  He missed out on some good shrimp and asparagus, but I understand where the kid was coming from.

The food was great, the environment was cool, and the service damn near perfect.  And, there’s something special about hearing towns like Sorrento, Osteen and Samsula when a dish is described to you.

Check out Riverpark Terrace, it is definitely worth a visit soon.

NSB Insider Tip
  • Their beer and alcohol choices were a bit pricier than most other local places, but they do have a solid happy hour every day until 6.  I would also recommend the outside grounds as a great locale for a larger group happy hour.
  • Check out their To-Go packaging – a cardboard container inside a paper bag – no plastic and no Styrofoam, which is great to see at a waterfront business.
